Southern Editor A 22-year-old man has died after falling 20 metres into a blowhole from cliffs near Garretstown beach in Co Cork. He was part of a large group who were camping overnight on the beach. A 23-year-old friend who went to his assistance was rescued and taken to hospital where he is being treated for hypothermia. The alarm was raised at around 11.30pm. A team of volunteers from the Old Head/Seven Heads Coast Guard Unit, local divers, gardaí and ambulance personnel attended the scene. The operation was overseen by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre at Valentia in Co Kerry.
