Google Maps
A suspect is under arrest following a three-hour standoff with police in the town of Collins.
Authorities said the incident started Tuesday when the suspect, who was wanted in connection with a Chautauqua County burglary, fled a traffic stop on Route 438 near Versailles Plank Road around 3:30 p.m.
After crashing with another vehicle, the suspect brandished a weapon and took a passenger in his vehicle hostage.
The scene moved into the nearby woods, multiple law enforcement agencies established a perimeter and Route 438 was closed, as hostage negotiators went to work.
After about three hours, the hostage was released and the suspect was taken into custody "without incident" shortly after 7 p.m.
