3 stranded hikers rescued from Mount Timpanogos Three hikers were rescued from Mount Timpanogos in Utah County Monday night. The men left from Battle Creek trailhead to hike up to the saddle area, just north of the summit, according to Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff's Office. As they were coming down the west side of the mountain, they ran into treacherous terrain and nearby cliffs. Temperatures dropped and the hiker's phone batteries ran low. They had 11% battery, just enough to call a friend who informed the Utah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue about their condition. A Department of Public Safety helicopter dropped a care package with hand warmers and a two-way radio to keep in contact with rescuers. They were told to stay put while crews called in helicopters for a hoist.
