An SUV fatally struck a 3-year-old boy in Gorham, Maine on Wednesday evening, and a 13-year-old girl was behind the wheel at the time of the crash, police said.
Gorham Police Chief Christopher Sanborn said by phone that the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Tamarack Circle, and that the 3-year-old child was pronounced dead at the scene.
He declined to say whether the 13-year-old was alone in the vehicle during the crash, how she initially ended up driving it, or whether her family owns the SUV in question.
