3.9 quake felt in the Bay Area, epicenter near San Leandro FacebookTwitterEmail A magnitude 3.9 earthquake rattled the Bay Area Monday evening. The quake hit the region around 6:30 p.m. with an epicenter in Ashland, a community near San Leandro. The temblor was initially rated a 4.2 and was downgraded. Michael Leonor, lead server at Angry Fish, was in the middle of dinner service when the tables and plates began rumbling. “We were alarmed,” Leonor said when reached by phone shortly after. Luckily, he said, none of the Japanese restaurant’s sushi chefs chopped their fingers during the brief quake and dinner service resumed as usual.
