BAREILLY: Five people were killed and one person was critically injured on Thursday after a train rammed into some vehicles at a railway crossing in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district, police said. The gates of the crossing were open when the train passed through. According to sources, the Chandigarh-Lucknow special train was given a green signal while the railway crossing was open for vehicles. The engine of the train was also damaged. A senior railway official said that a major accident was averted as the train was carrying hundreds of passengers. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the kin of the deceased.
