Sinclair said survivors shared their stories with a belief that things would get better in Canada. "They were looking for somebody to take the story seriously and start to do something about not just the history of residential schools, but also about the impact the residential schools have had, so that their children and their grandchildren and great grandchildren would be able to benefit from the telling of their stories," said Sinclair. Sen.
