KANE COUNTY — Six people were transported to the hospital Tuesday after two vehicles collided head-on and burst into flames, the Utah Highway Patrol said. Highway patrol troopers responded to reports of a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 89 at about 2:35 p.m., according to a statement from the agency. Troopers said preliminary investigations indicated that a 2020 Lexus passenger car was southbound when it crossed the center line into the northbound lane; a 2021 Toyota Highlander traveling in the northbound lane and attempted to steer left into the southbound lane to avoid the Lexus. The Lexus corrected back into its lane of travel, according to the statement, and collided head-on with the Toyota. Troopers said that both of the cars came to a rest facing west, blocking the southbound lanes, and burst into flames.
