From The Tribune staff reports FORESTDALE — An 83-year-old man involved in a head-on collision in April has died, according to Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates. George M. Pody, of Birmingham, died 24 days after the crash near Forestdale. Coroner Bill Yates said Pody was taken to UAB Hospital on April 15, after the crash on Forestdale Boulevard, between Haven Drive and Lanewood Drive. Yates said a Chevrolet Silverado crossed over the centerline, striking the Volkswagen Atlas that Pody was driving. Pody was transported to UAB Hospital where he died on Sunday, May 9, 2021. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the crash.
