The festivities last year though were slightly tamer due to the beginning of a global pandemic. Although Gov. Whitmer had placed statewide probation on gatherings of over 50 people and temporarily shut down the bars by March 16, the "Stay Home Stay Safe" order placing Michiganders under quarantine was not announced until March 23.
