Abilene police said a man threatened to hit an officer in an attempt to avoid detention. According to police, a woman and her friend said the man attacked them in the 300 block of Jefferson Drive Friday morning. Police said the man attempted to leave the scene, though police stopped him by grabbing his arms. In reaction, the suspect balled a fist and pulled it back as if to strike, but instead jerked his arm free and fled the scene on foot. He was located a short time later, police said, after a chase during which he had thrown a small item away from himself. The item contained a small amount of a crystal-like substance.
