About 12,000 primary election ballots still need to be counted in Douglas County

Douglas County election staff hard was hard at work on Wednesday, preparing the roughly 12,000 ballots that still need to be counted from Tuesday’s primary election.
“This is not something new for this election, we do this every election,” said Douglas Co. Election Commissioner Brian Kruse. “One of the reasons we do that is because our full resources here in the office are dedicated to election day and election evening.”

Voters had until 8 p.m. on Tuesday to get their early ballots to a drop box, but ballots delivered between Monday afternoon and Tuesday night aren’t counted yet.
