Pregnancy is a time that should be filled with anticipation and happiness, but for women of color, it often comes with a shadow of healthcare disparities that put their lives at risk. In a recent survey conducted by MetroPlusHealth, shocking revelations emerged about the alarming disparities in maternal healthcare for women of color. Among 1,000 respondents, half believed that Black pregnant women faced the same mortality rate as White women during childbirth. In stark contrast, the reality is that the risk of maternal death among Black women is nearly three times higher.
