1,132 infections reported across State Tamil Nadu recorded 1,132 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, even as the number of active cases fell below 10,000 after six months. As of Tuesday, 9,951 persons were undergoing treatment for COVID-19. The last time the State had less than 10,000 active cases was on May 31. At 3,122, Chennai accounted for the largest number of active cases, followed by Coimbatore (1,048), Tiruppur (541), Chengalpattu (490), Salem (481) and Tiruvallur (450). Perambalur had the least number of active cases, at five. The fresh cases took the State’s tally to 8,01,161. As many as 1,210 persons were discharged on Tuesday, taking the total figure to 7,79,291. The State reported 10 more deaths, taking the toll to 11,919.
