After years of planning, Gautier breaks ground on Town Commons project Updated Mar 16, 2021; GAUTIER -- It’s been in the works for nearly a decade, but Gautier has finally begun work on its Town Commons Park, with city officials breaking ground on the 32-acre facility Monday. The symbolic ceremony signaled construction is about to begin on the $1.9 million Phase I of the project, which will result in roads, drainage and other infrastructure, parking, and a great lawn area where City-hosted events such as Cruisin’ the Coast can be held. Officials noted the City has outgrown its existing facilities in terms of hosting large-scale events such as Cruisin’, which attracts upwards of 300 registered Cruisers along with hundreds of spectators each year.
