Algoma University is expanding its Indigenous cultural training to groups outside Sault Ste. Marie.
The SHIFT instruction was developed for Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. Officers and civilian staff began training in fall 2018.

The McConnell Foundation, a private foundation that “develops and applies innovative approaches to social, cultural, economic and environmental challenge,” is supporting the venture with about $350,000 in funding over three years to hire a manager and develop curriculum “so that it can be accessible in multi forms,” said Algoma president Asima Vezina.
