He spent much of 2020 getting himself and his game back on track and it was only through the 2021 Super Rugby season with the Chiefs that old ‘Concrete Shoulders’, as he’s affectionately dubbed around his franchise, began to work back into the form that made him the bolter of Steve Hansen’s World Cup squad. Now he’s back, selected as one of seven loose forwards in Ian Foster’s now 35-strong squad (with Braydon Ennor ruled out with appendicitis) to meet Tonga on Saturday at Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland, and then Fiji in Dunedin on July 10 and in Hamilton a week later.
