Using an ATV to do doughnuts in the parking lot of a downtown Iowa City convenience store has led to a North Liberty man’s arrest.
Iowa City Police say 26-year-old Byron Yordy of Sugar Creek Lane was observed using a four-wheeler to do doughnuts in the Kum & Go parking lot on East Burlington Street at 8:15pm on New Year’s Eve. Investigators say Yordy admitted to driving to Kum & Go on public roadways to do doughnuts.
According to police, Yordy showed multiple signs of impairment, smelled of ingested alcohol and admitted to having drinks earlier in the night. Yordy allegedly told officers he felt he would pass breath tests, but he refused to take them. Police also learned that Yordy is barred from driving from April of 2018 to April of 2022.
