Allen East clarifies expansion project By Mackenzi Klemann - mklemann@limanews.com HARROD — Allen East schools is planning an expansion project to alleviate overcrowding at the middle school and accommodate new programming. But the timing of the project, which is projected to cost upwards of $4 million, could confuse voters who are being asked to convert an existing levy the district adopted in 1994 into a permanent levy. The Allen East Board of Education on Tuesday hosted a special meeting to ensure voters know the middle school expansion project is unrelated to the levy, which generates $300,000 each year to support operating expenses like salaries, benefits and utilities.
