Feb 9, 2021 Armed Bandits Attack on El Pilar Road An employee of the Institute of Archaeology was the victim of an armed robbery on the El Pilar Road in the Cayo District. Belmopan resident Mauricio Alvarado was driving the institute’s 2017 Toyota Hilux on the road in the Bullet Tree Falls Village when three armed masked men came in his path. He stopped the vehicle and attempted to reverse when one of the men fired several shots towards his direction hitting the vehicle. He exits the vehicle and fired shots in the culprit’s direction and ran into the bushes. The bandits took the vehicle, which had electronic devices and an undisclosed amount of cash. Police are investigating.
