For some people, Christmas isnât a merry day. Those hurting from the loss of a loved one donât always look forward to the holidays, and the ever-present cheer of decorations, gifts and Christmas songs can bring more pain than joy. Last year, for the first time, several churches and agencies, as well as local funeral homes, collaborated on a âBlue Christmas serviceâ for those who were hurting and missing someone. But with the coronavirus pandemic thwarting in-person gatherings this year, a new tactic was needed. The Plains Area Mental Health Center and Carrollâs First United Methodist Church have partnered to offer a Blue Christmas âmemory tree.â
