Grant Henderson, a farmer on Mid-Canterbury's Thompsons Track, thought he had done enough, but he couldn't stop the torrent of water that came through his property.
Two days after the Ashburton River burst onto Grant Henderson’s farm, flooding most of the property and his home, the cleanup is well and truly under way.
Henderson, who owns Riverlyn Farm on Thompsons Track, had heaters turned up on Wednesday yesterday as he tried to dry out his drenched carpet.
The Mid-Canterbury farmer had been paying attention to the forecast so knew heavy rain was on the way. He spent the weekend getting stock to high ground and preparing the farm for a flood.
