During last Monday's Zoom meeting of Wicklow Municipal District, engineer Kevin Scanlon provided an update on the different works and projects which have taken place over the past month. The M11 Ashford footpath improvement works are continuing at the Ashford end, while the Newtownmountkennedy footpath widening design is also complete. The final design details are with the NTA and procurement is due to follow. The local authority is also awaiting confirmation of a grant award for Newtownmountkennedy. Town and Village Accelerated Scheme projects for Roundwood and Laragh have been approved. Pedestrian traffic management will be installed in both areas. The Laragh project is in progress with about three weeks of work remaining. Traffic management equipment has been procured for Roundwood, and the works will commence as soon as Level 5 Covid restrictions are lifted to a suitable level.
