A charming retro action experience is on the way to Switch.
Publisher Dangen Entertainment and developer LABS Works have announced a June 3, 2021 release date for
Astalon: Tears of the Earth on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s a single-player action platformer with a cute 8-bit visual style that will retail for $19.99, and if the style of its slick promotional art looks familiar at all, it’s because it was created by

Astalon: Tears of the Earth is character swapping, although it seems you will have to find a campfire to make a switch. You can swap among Arias, a fighter with higher defense and short-range sword attacks; Algus, a wizard with magic bolts that can travel through walls; and Kyuli, a rogue with a long-range bow and the ability to jump off of walls. Additionally, although the game doesn’t seem to be a roguelike, death will still make your team stronger, as they can “exchange collected orbs for various skills and upgrades when they reincarnate.” You can increase characters’ strength and defense or buy relics that offer additional perks.
