After more than a year hiatus, the Athens Really Really Free Market is back. The community thrift event is set to return June 12 from noon to 2 p.m. at Reese and Pope Park. The Free Market began on a monthly basis in 2012 on the second Saturday each month until February 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic put operations on hold. Volunteer coordinator Becky Kirkland gave the Banner-Herald a list of 5 things that those interested in attending or participating in the event need to know. Drop-off time: Kirkland asked that people donating items arrive by 1 p.m. so that their items have time to be claimed. Donated items are organized by category across several tables.
