New summer softball and basketball leagues proving successful Modified: 7/14/2021 6:55:24 PM You’d be hard pressed to find a busier man than Joe Gamache this summer. Following the summer of 2020 where sports were at a near stand-still, the Franklin Tech athletic director set out to make sure that wouldn’t be the case this year by organizing both a summer basketball and softball league. The Franklin Tech Summer Basketball League has five teams competing while 77 girls are playing in the newly-formed Franklin County Summer Softball League. “They seem to be going well,” Gamache said. “We’ve got decent participation. It’s nice to be able to offer something to get kids off their screens and off the couch and doing something active.”
