Athy heroin dealer gets benefit of Probation Act Tuesday, August 03, 2021 A MAN with three previous convictions for possession who pleaded guilty to selling two wraps of heroin on the street was given the benefit of the Probation Act for a second time after the prosecutor spoke up for him. “Will I give him a chance, Sergeant?” Judge Desmond Zaidan asked of Sgt Brian Jacob, prosecuting for the State. “I don’t think he’s the worst, judge,” offered Sgt Jacob generously. The man was in Athy court last week charged with possession, and possession with intent to supply the drug after being found with two wraps of heroin in the town on 21 April, 2019.
