Audit: $307,000 missing from UAB parking; 2 fired Updated Mar 03, 2021; Two workers were fired after $307,000 was discovered missing from parking machines at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a state report showed. A report released last month by the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts said an internal audit at UAB revealed money missing as far back as 2017. One of the fired workers wasn’t prosecuted for lack of evidence. Another person pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay $750 in restitution, but only $297 had been repaid by the time the report was released. The report did not include the name of either fired worker or details on how money was taken.
