The headline was not. We reached out to Ta'Quan when we realized there was an issue. He assured us that he is happy with the story and takes no offense at the headline. That was my first concern. The story is about him, after all. We also spoke to his coach, Rick Brunson, who was interviewed for the story. He is happy with the story and not offended by the headline. We learned quickly that some of our readers were offended. They let us know their feelings on social media and they deserve a response to their feedback. Rather than issue a quick apology, I gave a lot of thought about this issue and want to share my perspective.
