Law enforcement officials shut down Highway 101 in both directions in Agoura Hills for hours Thursday night as they handled an incendiary device that was ultimately detonated on an overpass.
The shutdown came after an off-duty deputy driving on the freeway saw a small explosion by the overpass near Cheseboro Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lost Hills station. The deputy pulled off to investigate and found a suspicious device on the bridge, which connects Palo Comado Canyon Road to Cheseboro. The area is east of the Ventura County line.
