The shutdown came after an off-duty deputy driving on the freeway saw a small explosion by the overpass near Cheseboro Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lost Hills station. The deputy pulled off to investigate and found a suspicious device on the bridge, which connects Palo Comado Canyon Road to Cheseboro. The area is east of the Ventura County line.
