Awards Awards GL has been a finalist in the “Drivers of Change Award – Civil Society Category” administered by the Mail and Guardian newspaper and the Southern African Trust three times, including in October 2015. In 2015 GL was a semi-finalist in the One Africa award that recognises Africa-driven; Africa led advocacy efforts that have demonstrated success at community, national or regional level. It aims to recognise, reward, and advance the exceptional work of organisations, founded by Africans and based in Africa. At the tenth anniversary celebrations of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights Protocol on the Rights of Women in Lilongwe, Malawi, in August 2013, the African Union recognised Gender Links as one of two civil society organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to women’s rights in Africa.
