Bayonne man charged with renting apartment he doesn’t own: police Updated 12:30 PM; A Bayonne man was arrested after police say he took more than $2,000 in cash to twice rent out an apartment that does not belong to him, authorities said. Fils Kendamos, 41, was charged with two counts of theft by deception Thursday, Bayonne Capt. Eric Amato said. Two victims contacted police on Feb. 10 and said they each paid Kendamos more than $1,000 at different times to enter into a lease on an apartment Kendamos advertised that he was subletting, Amato said. When they attempted to contact Kendamos by phone to schedule a move-in date, they realized they had called the landlord, who had no knowledge of the subletting, Amato said.
