They were brought in to address the rapid growth in this sort of crime. £1 million per day is being transferred into criminal accou nts being transferred into criminal accounts put it specifically do with the kind of bank fraud which a criminal will pretend to be someones bank or even the police and they will instruct them to tra nsfer and they will instruct them to transfer a large amount of money into someone elses account. Do they end up getting their money back, the people who are scammed . Most of them dont because the banks have what they call, theyre working towards a no blame system where they see who is to blame, if the customer did enough to protect their own money in the transfer or not. Where there is no blame, the victims in this who lose their life savings. It is really sad, we will keep an eye on it. It is very sophisticated scams, they can spoof phone numbers so it is not just gullible they can spoof phone numbers so it is notjust gullible people falling for this point you have to be very careful not to give any details i think most banks dont call you up and ask for details over the phone. I think if we can recognise it as such, more can be done to mitigate the negative effects on peoples lives.
