And i dont, that is really cool. I never really thought about that. And i thought. I didnt want to be the first. This is something that i have guarded since i was 13, 1a years old. I constantly had to wear a mask. Thinking, ok, i cant say this because i dont want someone to pick up on the fact that i am gay. I didnt want people asking questions. And i got tired of lying and i told my agent that i wanted to come out. And i wanted to still play in the nba. They reach a point where i was like, 0k, nba. They reach a point where i was like, ok, nobody else is raising their hand, i am going to raise my hand and say, yes, i am gay. I am one of those and so what . I am going to continue to live my life and continue to do myjob. It was very weird for me to finally see what it was like to remove the mask and see how talking without the filter would be. And see how talking without the filterwould be. I and see how talking without the filter would be. I knew and see how talking without the filter would be. I knew i needed to do it. And i knew that i had the love and support of the people who matter to me. I saw a few unknown numbers come in and it was back to back calls from Oprah Winfrey and president barack obama. Buckingham palace has led the tributes to sir captain tom moore, saying the queen is sending a private message of condolence to his family. They said, her majesty very much enjoyed meeting captain sir tom and his family At Windsor Last year. Her thoughts and those of the royal family are with them. The Health Secretary matt hancock said, he was a Great British hero that showed the best of our country. Ruth may, the chief nursing officer for england, released a statement to say, he brought the country together and gave us all a boost when we most needed it. And the fitness Coachjoe Wicks said he was an inspiration, who helped millions of people feel hopeful and optimistic during a difficult time. And the labour leader sir keir starmer described him as a hero and an inspiration to many. This is a really sad day across the country. He was a veteran of the second world war. Weve lost a british hero, i think many people will feel. And beyond that even, an inspiration, in a time where we really need inspiration. So its a huge loss, loss of a british hero and, like everybody across the country, my thoughts are with his family. The labour leader keir starmer. Earlier, i spoke to adam larkum, the illustrator of captain toms picture book for Young Readers one hundred steps. He explained how he got involved in that project. Oh, it was just a wonderful project to work on. It sort of seemed to come out of the blue. One minute, i was watching channel 4, watching the kind of documentary about captain tom, just thinking, these pictures look so interesting. I would love to draw this. Just thinking, not even really thinking very much about it. And then suddenly, i got this kind of like e mail from puffin saying about the commission and it was just like a dream come true, it was a wonderful chance really to do something really good. So just tell us about what we see in the book, tell us about it, its for young children, so it is a picture book, explain a bit more about it. So the picture book, it was just what i loved was the photographs from the 1920s and wartime images and things like that, so drawing that kind of thing is like absolute nectar to me. So i did lots of kind of sketches like this, and finding out how vera lynn had actually entertained his troops out in, i have a very bad memory for it. Saying it to puffin books and they hadnt actually realised, so they went back and researched that vera lynn was there and so i got to draw vera lynn entertaining the troops with kind of like animals all in the background. Like the world war or whatever. Monkeys and things. Fantastic pictures. And he was such an inspiration, wasnt he, during such a difficult time for the whole country . He brought a lot of inspiration to people really at a very, very difficult painful time for the whole country. What a wonderful, positive man. Positive, positivity is something right now we need and we have needed all the way through this. And then captain tom came along and it was just like, wow here comes a little bit of british eccentricity, but it is what we need. We needed someone like him, and he has kind of led the way to kind of feeling positive about how we can get through this, hes been amazing. And do you think children have related to him as well for his positivity, as well as adults . I think everybody has taken on board what hes said. You just see so many people also going and kind of doing their own kind of like charity runs and different things. And hes been such an inspiration to so many people. Hes been what the nation has needed. He has been fantastic. And a National Treasure really. Maybe that is an overused word, but in his case, definitely not, and he achieved National Treasure status in just a period, short period of a few months. I mean, i think we band National Treasure around so much, but in his case, he is a one off, isnt he . There is no one else out there really as much as him, he is head of the list of National Treasures, to be honest with you. The illustrator of captain toms picture book for Young Leaders and reflecting on the extraordinary Life Of Captain sir tom moore who has died today at the age of 100. Now its time for a look at the weather. Good evening. The snow will fall this evening and overnight and with temperatures close to freezing on the roads and pavements, it will be slippery so very treacherous travelling growing conditions. The strong wind is blowing snow around. You can get the warnings from the website. We have milder atlantic air coming into that colder air in the north, but gradually through the week, the milder air is nibbled away at and there is the easterly wind, coming southwards on the northerly breeze, stowing the cold air and the cold air is heading southwards with time. By the weekend, it will be colderfor time. By the weekend, it will be colder for everybody. But the time. By the weekend, it will be colderfor everybody. But the milder air is in charge so lots of heavy showers. Cold air in the north enhancing the risk of further snow. Especially for the hills, but snow will be at lower levels, a few centimetres for the likes of the central lowlands, pushing further north, mostly over the hills in Northern Ireland where slightly milder conditions prevail as they will across england and wales away from the final. But look towards the south, we have the potentialfor more rain here. Rain onto saturated ground with river levels high and there are still numerous Flood Warnings in force so this is a concern for southern areas. Some uncertainty as to how far north it will come but it looks like we will see rain here. During the first part of wednesday. And milder air gets further north into Northern Ireland and Northern England so we see the snow that has fallen thawing and pushing into the River Systems as well as the heavy showers. And longer spells of rain follow. All the while, that easterly wind continues to fall as snow across much of scotland. And possibly the far north of england where that cold air is established. Particularly over the hills. And what a day it will be with that strong easterly wind. And little changes as we move into thursday. That easterly wind is still established so pushing more snow follow up on to the hills. Rain further south where it is slightly milder air and still lots of heavy showers coming in over the saturated ground as well, so that ongoing risk of flooding is with us through much of flooding is with us through much of the week. But towards the weekend, that cold air, as i say, is filtering its way southwards so it will be a colder few days to come by that stage. The warnings are on the website.
