Where 260 people died. Imagine yourself using a rocket that is meant to fire on houses or tanks fired on a group of 20 civilians. This is the scene live in gaza well bring you the very latest from both sides of the border. Hello. Welcome to bbc news. The conflict between israel and hamas has entered its fourth day. All indications seem to be that full size are preparing for a long and deadly struggle. This drone video shows the scale of destruction wreaked across the gaza strip over the past few days. Israels army claims to have hit a further 200 hamas targets in overnight bombing. Israel has ordered a total siege to cut off water and food and supplies to Gaza Prompting criticism from the un chief antonio guterres. And calls for a humanitarian corridor to be set up. Almost 190,000 people have been displaced and half a million are unable to get food rations. Meanwhile israel says it has secured control of its border fence with gaza and has recovered the bodies of 1500 hamas militants who were behind saturdays attacks. Rocket sirens continue to sound on Southern Israeli towns. Hamas has threatened to start killing israeli hostages of which there are thought to be more than 100 if israel performs more Civilian Houses without warning. The numbers killed on both sides continue to rise in the meantime. Around 900 people have died in israel since the Surprise Attack was launched on saturday. 770 people have so far died in gaza from israeli air strikes since the health ministry. And at least another 18 people have been killed and 100 injured in the west bank. Israeli air strikes have continued through the night in gaza. Israel says it struck around 2500 sites linked to hamas since the beginning of the missile strikes. This is the same live in gaza this tuesday morning. You can see in the background the plumes of smoke rising above the horizon. They have continued to rise throughout the morning. There have been several huge explosions that we have seen on the live feed and our correspondent who is in gaza has said he has never seen anything like this in his 20 years as a News Correspondent in the region. Our international Editorjeremy Bowen Is International editorjeremy bowen is in Southern Israel. He sent us this report on the violence and bloodshed happening on both sides of the border. Inside gaza, it looks every bit as if palestinians are feeling the full force of Israeli Military power. Israel says hamas is responsible for the suffering of gazas civilians. And its retaliation for the hamas attacks has onlyjust begun. Hamas has threatened to start killing its israeli hostages. The air strikes rolled on, hour after hour. Palestinian armed groups, undeterred, kept up their own barrage of israel. Rockets. 0ur bbc team was in ashkelon in Southern Israel, not far from the gaza border, when a salvo came in. Ashkelon is so close to gaza that there is no more than a ten second warning. Israel is moving in more firepower the next stage of the offensive against hamas looks certain to be a Ground Offensive, much bigger than other incursions since hamas took over in gaza in 2007. Lines of cars outside a Military Base on the road to gaza were parked by reservists as they reported for duty. Getting ready. Saying their goodbyes. Parents came to the base for a few minutes with their sons. Were praying and hope for the best. And its tough times now. And were telling him to try and concentrate on his mission. Without thinking too much about other friends that got injured or killed. Israels prime minister, benjamin netanyahu, broadcast to his nation. He said hamas has made a mistake of historic proportions. We will, he said, exact a price that will be remembered by them and israels other enemies for decades. And now israelis are waiting for their government and army to act. Sderot the israeli town closest to gaza littered with the debris of war, felt like the essence of israels trauma almost deserted, except for security forces. Hamas has rocketed sderot for years, but never before stormed in. At the centre of the hamas Killing Ground was the police station. They broke in and used it as a firebase to shoot civilians as well as soldiers. Blood from israels dead and wounded smears the walls. Even here, in what is always a Front Line Town for israelis, this was not supposed to happen. They expected their military, backed up by the intelligence services, to protect them. And the fact that that didnt happen means that recriminations about who might be responsible have already started. But at the same time, there is a strong sense of National Unity with the country under attack about what happens next. In the places that hamas attacked, Israeli Military as well as the few civilians left arejumpy, still shocked. A Ground Offensive didnt feel imminent. And in gaza, a few miles away, casualties come into the main hospital the first few hundred of many more. It will get worse. Palestinians and israelis once more caught on the anvil of war in a conflict a century old that is as deadly as its ever been. Jeremy bowen, bbc news. Lets bring you a line coming in from the eu. The Foreign Policy Chiefjosep Borrell has said he had invited the Israeli Foreign minister eli cohen tojoin invited the Israeli Foreign minister eli cohen to join the eu Foreign Ministers meeting to discuss the situation in israel and he has also invited the Palestinian Authority posing Foreign Minister Riyad Al Maliki to address the meeting and present the views of the Palestinian Authority. That is coming into us from the european union. The eu trying to sort some discussion around the situation in israel with the Israeli Foreign minister and the Palestinian Authority puzzling Foreign Minister. Lets move live now and go to ashkelon, a few kilometres north of gaza and israel. It has been hit by a number of rockets from gaza and anna foster is there right now. The Southern Israeli communities, the are . The Southern Israeli communities, the once i are . The Southern Israeli | communities, the once so are . The Southern Israeli communities, the once so close to the perimeter to that fence around gaza have had the sort a few days i think too many of them would just be unimaginable. They are used here to living with missiles, again this morning there have been missiles, rockets, a lot of them home made but they come across from gaza and they land in these communities and cause huge issues for people who live here. But what has been a real issue is the fact that people are dealing with the aftermath of actually seeing hamas militants themselves breaking through that Perimeter Fence and coming into these communities committing mass murder indiscriminate killings and for people here it is affected every fibre of their being. It is so enormously difficult for people here, civilians on the side, civilians in gaza as well. Its also the images there in that report. People who are not involved in this fighting are finding this enormously hard to process and to deal with it all. A little earlier on this morning i spoke, i was on the road outside escalon, the main highway, it is supposed to be busy are day like this with people going to work and people going to school but it was completely quiet. It was sealed off, those military checkpoints but i got talking to a young man, 23 years old, he was going on in a truck. He was taking in supplies from his community to actually go to see people who are in what is now this military zone. If people can get in. He is taking in supplies and he told me a little bit more about himself and what he was doing and about he felt about everything that has unfolded in these last few days. The moment she has had to go. She is in sderot in Southern Israel but we will try to get her on. She had to rush. I want to bring you some the pictures coming to us. This in particular is from our reporter who is in gaza. We have been hearing her must have been continuing to fire rockets. He sent us these pictures. Showing the extent of the destruction in gaza city. He said the earthquake, he said in the street which he posted not too long ago with this video, it is like an Earthquake Driving through gaza citys so the neighbourhood, the Skill Destruction is staggering. He has been a correspondent in this region for over 20 years. He himself said to us he has never seen anything like this in his entire career. This picture filmed by the bbc correspondent rusty abu other. A little earlier he sent this in gaza city, i was a witness of what happened there last night. What is the heaviest, i think, our strike i have ever seen in my life and in my 25 years of working as a journalist. I was in a residential building about of about 20 families. The whole building was shaking all night. Kids were screaming. People were calling for appeal. We were for six or seven hours without electricity, with no access to the internet and without knowing what is going on outside. Except like looking from the window of the flat and seeing flames of fire on the sky, pillars of smoke in the sky, and the whole building was shaking all night. This morning i managed to leave this area, i drove through, it was very risky going out because there was too much debris in the streets, buildings collapsed. The entire neighbourhood is flattened to the ground. Government buildings, police stations, most houses, cars damaged in the middle of the streets, people are carrying their kids and leaving the area. Others are coming back to the area to check what has happened to their properties, to their cars. Cars stand in the street. Whole buildings are destroyed. One of them, well known building belonging to the telecommunication company, and it was completely destroyed by an israeli air strike. Thousands of israeli air strikes took place yesterday and we understand that some of the people who were trapped in a basement of one of the buildings close to the main hamas government office, about 30 families were trapped for seven hours in the basement without access to food or water or the bathroom or anything for hours and hours. This morning a team from the palestinian civil defence, they managed to go and rescue them in the area. The area is completely destroyed, it is unbelievable. The scale of destruction is massive in this area. This is considered one of the most expensive and rich areas in gaza city, some of the people like to call it the shanxi of gaza. Not any more. The place, i think when people have access to the street, they see they will be shocked. Sir keir starmer will they will be shocked. Sir keir starmer will pledge they will be shocked. There has been huge problem publicised in paris and around other regions in france. You are live watching bbc news. Lets go back to our top story. The conflict in israel and gaza. The israeli air missiles continue to fall on gaza, israel says it seems to have contained the incursion, the infiltration that happened in Southern Israeli areas. There are also rockets being fired by hamas into some areas of Southern Israel. We now over 100 hostages have been taken by hamas into gaza and they have warned they could end up killing hostages if firms continue to follow on what they call civilian targets with no warning. I am joined now byjohn linton, executive director of the alliance for middle east peace, a group of over 100 ngos working to foster reconciliation between israelis and post the news, arabs and jews in the wider region. In israel and palestine it is x 100 or 1000 because of the trauma and violence of those populations. If we look at where we have come from before the 19905, where we have come from before the 1990s, there was no checkpoints, permits, israelis and palestinians moved around fairly easily. People forget it. It wasnt perfect but there were so military occupation but it was that level population exchange. We have separated both peoples, gaza huge wall and the west bank the same. We have introduced a regime of permits and exclusionary practices often with securityjustifications but it means you have created a petri dish for polarisation, extraneous and for the worst stereotypes to be prevalent and that his wife really re socialising these populations making them understand the vision you see of Hamas Marauding through israel a few days ago is not all palestinians and equally houses cities verified right eye with her site isnt an image of all israelis. Anna foster, our correspondent in the Southern Israeli region. We will leave anna there momentarily and bring you up to date with the latest in gaza. These are the latest pictures coming into us. We have been saying and talking about the number of israeli air strikes. We had earlier on a tweet on the site formerly known as twitter from our correspondent. If you can find him on twitter i would suggest, he has posted some startling videos on the destruction on the ground because these pictures dont often do it justice. Back in a few minutes. We will be answering your questions. Keep them coming to us here at bbc news. Hello again. Although some of us will have a dry, sunny and warm day, for others, weve got Weather Fronts coming in from the northwest, introducing rain, exacerbating the flooding risk, particularly so where the ground is already saturated. And the met office has a yellow Weather Warning out for Western Scotland for this rain. Weve Showery Rain Moving Out of Northern Ireland into Northern England and north wales. But south of that, a lot of dry and sunny weather away from the coasts. The irish sea coast and the English Channel coast prone to hang onto some mist and murk through the day. Top temperatures up to 24 or 25 somewhere in south east england. As we head through the evening, and overnight, this band of rain moves south as a weakening feature. But as it crosses england and also wales its going to rejuvenate. Some patchy fog ahead of it, blustery showers behind it. And under clear skies were looking at a chilly night in sheltered glens with temperatures falling away to four or six but mild across england, wales and Northern Ireland. Through tomorrow, our band of rain slowly sinks southwards. Wont get into the far south till after dark. 0n the other side of it, were looking at sunshine, blustery showers. Still windy across the far north of scotland, but fresher conditions will be following behind that weather front. So temperatures 10 to about 17 degrees for most of us. Its the south thats still clinging on to the warmer conditions at this stage. So wednesday into thursday, our front lingers in the south as a weak feature, but then it will develop a wave in it, so it will rejuvenate later in the day. So to start with, across Southern England it will be cloudy, therell be some drizzle around. Its later heavier rain will come in. Pushing north of that, a lot of dry weather. Therell be some sunshine around, some outbreaks of rain and windy conditions across the far north of scotland. Temperature wise, were looking at ten in the north to perhaps 20, maybe 22 in the far south east. Then for friday, what weve got are Weather Fronts which are going to be pushing northwards once again from the south, and southwards from the north. So basically what that means is its going to be wet at times, especially across england and wales. But this could change, the position could change and the timing. It may clear away a bit faster than this chart shows. And there will still be blustery showers across Northern Scotland in between some Sunshine Feeling cooler. And that leads us into a cooler weekend. 0il Oil Prices Oil prices begin to ease but there are fears that the conflict in the middle east could disrupt output. Welcome along to a curtailed World Business report. We will bring you the stories from Around The World. We begin with Market Reaction to the events unfolding in israel and gaza. Markets have settled after a turbulent day assessing the possible ramifications of the conflict. On monday, israels central bank moved to calm markets and stabilize their currency by saying it would sell up to 30 billion of foreign currency. But one of the biggest impacts globally has been on the oil
