Their kingpin and leader, who is a dead man walking. We will get to them, every single one of them. This is the scene live in gaza city israel contines to urge anyone still there to leave as soon as possible. Hello, welcome to bbc news. The bbc has confirmed that Young Children were among those killed in an air strike on a convoy of vehicles leaving Northern Gaza on friday, along a route designated by israel. Our team at bbc verify analysed two videos of the strike on the vehicles heading towards southern gaza. Both videos have been verified, these first images show a Lorry Carrying at least 30 civilians on the move, moments before it was hit. And these are still images taken from a subsequent video from the aftermath of the strike, too graphic to show in detail. The video shows men running to the lorry, trying to help those whove been hit. There are at least 12 visible dead bodies in the video. In the past hour, israels Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, Benjamin Netanyahu, has visited troops near the border with gaza. He asked if they were ready for the next stage, and he said, the next stage is coming. The Un Relief Agency, unrwa, says Hundreds Of Thousands of people have been displaced in the past day. And nearly a million, almost half the territorys population, in the past week. More rockets have been fired into israel, and israeli air strikes are continuing across gaza. Military sources in israel say a senior hamas commander is among those killed. The us secretary of state, antony blinken, is in saudi arabia on the latest stop of a tour of The Middle East. Jordans Foreign Minister has accused israel of Flagrant Breaches of International Law, and warned the displacement of civilians in gaza was pushing the whole region towards conflict. This is the scene live from gaza. The latest information is that more than 2,200 people have been killed in gaza in the last week, with 9,000 wounded. At least 1,300 israelis were killed by hamas gunmen last weekend. From southern israel, nick beake sent this report. The reality of another night of israeli air strikes on gaza. Chaos in the rubble. A scramble for survivors. More casualties ferried to overrun hospitals, and yet more civilians killed, as israel insists more than a Million People in the north of gaza must move out. Translation this is| a genocide, not a war. Its genocide and its an attempt to displace the people of the gaza strip, but this will not happen. Israel says this is a legitimate response to hamass atrocities exactly a week ago. The Israeli Military said this footage shows the elimination of hamas commanders whod masterminded the mass killing. A few miles away, just a fragment of the build up of israeli troops, amid anticipation of a full scale Land Incursion into gaza. Israel continues to fire on gaza with its artillery and its fighter jets. It insists its targeting hamas and not civilians. Today, the israelis have given a limited window for palestinians to move south. Theyre being told they will be safe, but as weve seen over the past 2a hours, civilians have been killed trying to move away. This convoy of vehicles was hit in the north of gaza yesterday, attempting the journey to safety. The circumstances are still not clear. Israel says a significant number of people have now followed their ultimatum to leave Northern Gaza. We have seen people listening to our warning, understanding that they are doing the clever thing, moving out of a dangerous area and that they are doing the right thing for their families and their own safety. Americas top diplomat, whos in The Middle East, stressed once again that civilian life must be protected. As israel pursues its legitimate right to defending its people, to try to ensure that this never happens again, it is vitally important that all of us look out for civilians, and were working together to do exactly that, in particular, working on establishing safe areas. Hamas continues to attack israel. This, footage of unmanned so called kamikaze drones. They, along with rockets, are still being fired to civilian areas in many parts of israel. The United Nations has called for food, fuel and aid to be sent to gaza. For now, its only bullets and bombs heading that way. Lets bring you some pictures that came in, in the past few hours, from the reuters news agency. It is in jabalia, it is injabalia, showing the moments after a strike. We will show you the pictures of the variety of rockets that have gone out of the gaza strip and also the israeli strikes coming in. These images of the various emergency teams dealing with that in the immediate aftermath. You will see, because these pictures go on, there is a second strike that comes in, in the next few seconds. That man, centre screen, moving towards some of the damage. Really distressing, obviously. We are told that man that you sawjust before the second blast, he did survive. He is seriously injured, but some of his colleagues running away from the scene. So many different strikes through the course of the last 2a hours, with casualties of course rising. Those, some of the latest pictures that have been coming into us from the reuters news agency. Lets get the latest on israels Security Operation now with lt col peter lerner, spokesperson for the idf. Thanks forjoining us on bbc news again. In terms of the various deadlines that israel has laid out for people to leave, where are we . Because this extension, the further six hours, these two roads that the idf said people were safe to use, that deadline has run out too, so where are we now . We that deadline has run out too, so where are we now . That deadline has run out too, so where are we now . We are operating currently in where are we now . We are operating currently in order where are we now . We are operating currently in order to where are we now . We are operating currently in order to encourage currently in order to encourage people to leave the area of the north of gaza strip, to evacuate to the south. That is what weve been seeing over the last day and a half. Ive said, and i said yesterday, the deadlines, the timeframe is not ironclad, we are watching closely and encouraging people to leave. We are very glad people are actually leaving. That means they are not listening to hamas, which is willing to sacrifice them. But listening to hamas, which is willing to sacrifice them. To sacrifice them. But ust to be clear, ultimately to sacrifice them. But ust to be clear, ultimately in to sacrifice them. Butjust to be clear, ultimately in your to sacrifice them. Butjust to be clear, ultimately in your view, | to sacrifice them. Butjust to be i clear, ultimately in your view, they have to leave, do they . Unrwa put out a statement, the un body working on the ground, talking about how many, many people wont be able to move, pregnant women, they say, children, older people, people with disabilities. They have no choice but to stay and must be protected at all times. Civilians, hospitals, schools, clinics and un premises cannot be targeted. What do you say in response to that . I cannot be targeted. What do you say in response to that . In response to that . I would say that everybody in response to that . I would say that Everybody Needs in response to that . I would say that Everybody Needs to in response to that . I would say that Everybody Needs to listen l in response to that . I would say| that Everybody Needs to listen to what we are saying. We are very serious in our determination to rid the threat of hamas and its terrorism from israel. This Terrorist Organisation have taken the people of gaza hostage, and we are not willing that they will hold the sort of debt over israel ever again. We are operating, and that is why people need to listen, we are trying to differentiate between the people of gaza and the terrorists. That is our obligation, and we are sending a very clear message. People need to move. I sending a very clear message. People need to move need to move. I will come back to that differentiation need to move. I will come back to that differentiation in need to move. I will come back to that differentiation in a need to move. I will come back to that differentiation in a moment, | that differentiation in a moment, but you said just now you are being very clear. So be very clear, if people cant move or wont move, including those You Un Premises or hospitals, what are you saying is going to happen . Im hospitals, what are you saying is going to happen . Hospitals, what are you saying is going to happen . Im saying it is of utmost importance going to happen . Im saying it is of utmost importance that going to happen . Im saying it is of utmost importance that people going to happen . Im saying it is of i utmost importance that people move, and they should do the best they can in order to go south. And they should do the best they can in order to go south. In order to go south. Thats not what i asked. In order to go south. Thats not what i asked. You in order to go south. Thats not what i asked. You said in order to go south. Thats not what i asked. You said you in order to go south. Thats not what i asked. You said you were | what i asked. You said you were being clear, so be clear, if they dont or cant move, what will happen to them . What are you saying is going to happen . We happen to them . What are you saying is going to happen . Is going to happen . We are going to escalate our is going to happen . We are going to escalate our strikes is going to happen . We are going to escalate our strikes against is going to happen . We are going to escalate our strikes against hamas. | escalate our strikes against hamas. That is the importance of moving. We do not want to jeopardise people unnecessarily. This is where our forewarning is coming, and that is why we are telling people to move. We do not want to cause any further damage to palestinians, but ultimately, this is hamas responsibility. They chose to launch a war, a massacre, in our society, in our communities, killing over 1300 innocent people just because they thought they would benefit from it. Hamas will not benefit from it. They cant hide behind the people of gaza and expect us not to defend our people. The gaza and expect us not to defend our eole. , people. The thing is. The responsibility people. The thing is. The responsibility of people. The thing is. The responsibility of the people. The thing is. The | responsibility of the israelis people. The thing is. The i responsibility of the israelis is about your actions. So let me just ask you a question. Earlier, you talked about differentiating between hamas and civilians. As we watch the Casualty Numbers grow and grow, and thats even before any sort of ground offensive, World Leaders from joe biden downwards, and others, have defended israel and said they are right behind you when it comes to self defence and defending yourself. But as well as saying that, it was said today, any right has a limit. So how close do you think you are to that limit . The idf o erates think you are to that limit . The idf operates within think you are to that limit . The idf operates within the think you are to that limit . The idf operates within the laws think you are to that limit . The idf operates within the laws of think you are to that limit . The idf operates within the laws of armed l operates within the laws of armed conflict. As a professional military, that is what we do, and we are doing that in order to defend the state of israel against the aggression and hostilities. And also the atrocities of hamas. Yahya al sinwar is the mastermind of the massacre, he is the Prime Minister of gaza, he has utilised all of the tools of his government to conduct this attack. He has failed the people of gaza miserably and we are going to destroy him and his capabilities. He reported earlier about the terrorists among those involved in the attack, the terror attack. He is on the special forces commando unit, he was part of the breaching unit into israel. We are recognising the intelligence we are gathering extensively. We are picking up from the videos that they aired themselves because they are proud of this destruction. And it is our right and obligation to defend the state of israel, and that is what we intend on doing. I emphasise, it will be within the law, within the realm of the laws of armed conflict, because we are a professional military and that is what we will do. Professional military and that is what we will do. That, of course, has been questioned what we will do. That, of course, has been questioned by what we will do. That, of course, has been questioned by others i what we will do. That, of course, i has been questioned by others and you will know that, but we will explore that later in the programme. In the world, basically. The International Humanitarian law, and any law of Armed Conflicts allow people to seek refuge and actually to have access to safety and basic needs. What we see now, the people of the gaza strip have no access whatsoever to basic needs. Water, electricity, fuel, even food which is running very fast. Medications for chronic diseases. There are shortage in all of these. What we are witnessing now is people, 1. 1 Million People fleeing to the south of gaza strip, to no shelters. There were no shelters in the gaza strip. This means this is a humanitarian disaster that we havent seen the scale of such a disaster in modern time, may be in the history of humanity. We see people who are ordered to evacuate, and while evacuating, as you showed in your video before, they were bombed. It means there is no escape and there is no safety. Even including my family, who fled from the north of the gaza strip. People move to the south, and next to them there is continuous bombardment, continuous shelling. There are people dying in the south of the gaza strip, as they were ordered to move. Thats what we say, a humanitarian crisis, a huge failure or humanity. A lack of response. We have 33 Staff Members in the gaza strip who are fleeing their homes. 11 of them, their homes were destroyed totally, and they are moving for the third time to the south of the gaza strip. They are sending messages to us saying they dont have water, they themselves, the aid workers, becoming the recipients of aid. There is no aid. 0ne becoming the recipients of aid. There is no aid. One of my colleagues who was helping internally displaced people, advising them how to get water and how to use hygiene kits and how to help themselves, she said, i find myself for the first time practising what i used to teach people to do. She is in a room with 30 children and men and women, very small room. Thats the situation. Its something that hasnt been seen in modern history at all. We know that there are threats to hospitals in the north of gaza strip, three main hospitals, each hospital has at least 500 people. Women who need delivery, delivering babies. Chronic diseases. Intensive care units. How can these people be evacuated . Not only that, we see hospitals, there were so many people who took refuge in the hospitals, thinking they are safer, but they are not safe, so what can be done in this situation . We havent even assessed the crisis and how much needs are there, because our tea
