20 vehicles carrying medicine and food passed through on saturday the first since israel tightened its blockade of the territory. The Rafah Crossing is on the egyptian border and is the only route not bordering israel, which means its currently the only potential way to deliver humanitarian aid into gaza. Well have the latest on the aid trying to get into gaza in the next hour. In other developments in the conflict today, irans Foreign Minister has accused israel of committing genocide in gaza, and has warned the situation in the middle east risks spiralling out of control. Israel has been continuing to carry out aerial bombing of gaza. These pictures are from the past hour. Its nowjust over two weeks since the hamas attacks inside israel, in which 1,400 people were killed. The Palestinian HealthMinistry Says about 4,700 gazans, mainly civilians, have been killed in the israeli air strikes. Israels military has warned civilians in gaza to keep moving south for their own safety, as it prepares to increase pressure on hamas, which is designated a Terrorist Organisation by the uk, us and other western governments. The Israeli Defense forces said one of its aircraft also targeted a mosque in the palestinian city ofjenin, in the occupied west bank. Israel says the mosque was used by a hamas cell as a base to plan and execute attacks against civilians. The israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has met soldiers at the israel lebanon border. He reiterated his support for the troops in their fight against the iranian backed hezbollah, a group that, like hamas, is considered a Terrorist Organisation by the uk, us and others. Mr netanyahu said hezbollah would make the biggest mistake of its life should it start a war with israel. Translation we are now. In a double battle one here, at the lebanon Israel Border to make sure hezbollah back off, and the other battle, there in the south to ensure a decisive victory that will crush hamas. If hezbollah decides to enter the war, it will miss the second lebanon war. It will make the mistake of its life. We will strike it with a force it cannot even imagine. And the significance for it and the state of lebanon will be devastating. The israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu. There have been quite a few updates today from gaza and israel. As explained, there has been intensified bombing of gaza by Israeli Forces. There has also been a plea from many aid agencies to get more aid into gaza because the people there are, in the words of one aid agency, suffering a catastrophic situation. Our coverage this hour starts with this report from wyre davies. Israeli air strikes against what it says are strategic hamas targets have left parts of the gaza strip looking like a wasteland. Such bombings, say palestinians, is indiscriminate by its very nature and are resulting in thousands of civilian casualties. Many of those victims are children. These casualties were filled in central gaza. There are other graphic images too distressing to broadcast, showing the bodies of at least a dozen children. At another hospital in gaza city, this 18 year old us citizen who lost a sister in the shelling urges the American Government to get him and the surviving families out of gaza. After 20 trucks carrying basic food and medical aid were allowed into gaza yesterday through the border with egypt, it was hoped a similar number would cross today. But, says the un, its nowhere near the 500 trucks daily that are needed to sustain a population of more than 2 million. 30 , according to our sources, of the infrastructure is already destroyed. The un says that many who fled south to escape israeli bombing are now heading back to homes in northern gaza, towards the shelling, so dire is the humanitarian situation. Some people will die if they dont get insulin on a regular basis. There are 50,000 pregnant women in gaza. Water is absolutely necessary to keep them alive. But the situation is set to worsen. Thousands of israeli troops, tanks and heavy armour are preparing for a full scale Ground Offensive in gaza once bombing from the air achieves its objective. Its what israel says it has to do if hamas is to be crushed. I have no doubt that israel will need to go in on the ground to be able to effectively hurt and undermine and weaken hamas, but also to be able to project power in this region and show the world and its other adversaries that are watching that we have capabilities, and i think its a matter of day or days until that happens. But israel knows a Land Invasion of gaza could trigger conflict in the wider region. In the palestinian west bank, a hamas cell preparing for an attack was hit in the city ofjenin, they say. In southern lebanon, where hezbollah have threatened to avenge any invasion of gaza, Cross Border Skirmishes may be a portent of things to come. But israels Prime Minister warned hezbollah and its sponsor in iran not to get involved. If hezbollah decides to enter the war, they will be making the biggest mistake of their lives and hit with unimaginable force, said the Prime Minister, talking to Israeli Soldiers in the north today. One factor that mr netanyahu cant control is the fate of 200 israeli and International Hostages being held by hamas in gaza. Free them now Theirfamilies Fear an israeli invasion could put their lives in further danger. Live now to our correspondent paul adams injerusalem. Before we talk about mr netanyahu and what he said to troops on the border we have been hearing about an accident when an israeli tank apparently accidentally fired on an egyptian post near the border with gaza, can you give more information about this . ,. , gaza, can you give more information about this . About this . Yes, the Israeli Defense forces have about this . Yes, the Israeli Defense forces have released about this . Yes, the Israeli Defense forces have released a about this . Yes, the Israeli Defense forces have released a statement i forces have released a statement saying that one of their tanks did as you say accidentally fire on an egyptian position near the kerem shalom crossing, that is a cross in from the gaza strip into israel right at the southern end of the gaza strip, very close to the Rafah Crossing where the aid trucks had been trying to enter into gaza. The incident, according to the idf, is being investigated and details are under review. The statement concludes that the idf regrets the incident. Some sources from the egyptian side are suggesting that two egyptians were injured in this and that an egyptian watch postal lookout post was destroyed, but we dont have very clear details on that. But i think what it is is indicative of the extremely fraught and dangerous situation that exists down there at the southern end of the gaza strip, where on the one hand, there is this really increasingly desperate effort to try and get aid in from the egyptian side welcome on the other hand, the israelis are continuing to pursue their military objectives with absolutely overwhelming force while on the other hand. Lets absolutely overwhelming force while on the other hand. Lets talk about what while on the other hand. Lets talk about what we while on the other hand. Lets talk about what we heard while on the other hand. Lets talk about what we heard earlier while on the other hand. Lets talk about what we heard earlier from | about what we heard earlier from Prime Minister netanyahu talking to the troops on the israel lebanon border. Tell me the message she had for hezbollah and for those who he believes may want to fight a proxy war with israel he had. Yes. Believes may want to fight a proxy war with israel he had. War with israel he had. Yes, he said to the war with israel he had. Yes, he said to the troops war with israel he had. Yes, he said to the troops he war with israel he had. Yes, he said to the troops he was war with israel he had. Yes, he said to the troops he was visiting l said to the troops he was visiting that essentially come israel is now fighting on two fronts. 0n the one hand trying to destroy hamas once and for all gaza and on the other hand, trying to persuade hezbollah not to join this battle hand, trying to persuade hezbollah not tojoin this battle in gaza. Not to feel this is a moment it should be trying to exploit. We have seen the simmering tensions over the northern borderfor the seen the simmering tensions over the northern border for the last two weeks with multiple exchanges of fire between israel and hezbollah. There have been fatalities on both sides. The israelis are sufficiently alarmed both to have moved significant numbers of troops up to the border, but also to have evacuated Tens Of Thousands of People Living in what are considered to be vulnerable communities along the border. So mr netanyahu really had a message for hezbollah which is, if you make the mistake of escalating the situation here, then you will look back on the 2006 lebanon war and you will wish you were back there. In other words, you have not seen even a fraction of what israel is capable of doing. I think the israelis obviously would prefer not to fight on two fronts simultaneously, but they are also conscious that they have in the Eastern Mediterranean and American NavalCarrier Group which could, should things escalate further, play a role in any conflict in the north. Finally, let me ask you about plans. Because we have been talking to various people about potential Ground Invasions, Ground Incursions by israel, but complicated quite a lot by the Hostage Situation in gaza. , ~. ,~ gaza. Yes, i think the Netanyahu Government gaza. Yes, i think the Netanyahu Government is gaza. Yes, i think the Netanyahu Government is acutely gaza. Yes, i think the Netanyahu Government is acutely conscious| gaza. Yes, i think the Netanyahu Government is acutely conscious that on the streets of israel, there are families protesting every day, demanding the safe release of what we now think are still 212 hostages being held in the gaza strip. That is the latest figure put out by the israelis, it has gone up in the last 24 israelis, it has gone up in the last 2a hours as they have identified more they think are being held in gaza. And also that pressure is coming from outside, from the united states. Joe biden has said on more than one occasion that the fate of american citizens being held in gaza is one of his highest priorities. So these are extraordinarily complex issues that add to the existing complexity of what it is that israel is planning to do in gaza, which is a major operation designed to uproot hamas once and for all. And i think thats why we are still now two weeks and a bit on from the events of october the 7th, we are still in a situation where air strikes are still going on and we are waiting for the Ground Invasion to take place. For the Ground Invasion to take lace. ,. , ~ ,. , for the Ground Invasion to take lace. ,. , ~ y. , for the Ground Invasion to take lace. ,. , ~ ,. Breaking news now. Some Breaking News in the last couple of minutes, the un Palestinian Refugee agency, the un Palestinian Refugee agency, the one which was created by the un to work specifically for Palestinian People unrwa, it has said 29 of its staff have so far been killed in the goals at war since everything began on october the 7th. That is the un Palestinian Refugee agency which does a lot of work within gaza. And a little bit earlier, i spoke to their spokesperson. Tamara al rifai. We are talking about the issue of fuel because a news agency said it had been told a number of fuel tanks were entering into gaza today. We tried to confirm this news and we spoke to unrwa and they said this is not true and that no fuel has crossed into the rafah border into gaza. Fuel is crucial because of course, many hospitals in gaza rely on it to keep generators going and also water Desalination Plants in gaza that rely on it to keep them going. I spoke to her earlier and she explained the truth behind the rumours. I would like to confirm that no fuel has gone into gaza today or yesterday, or over the last two weeks. So there was confusion over pictures, footage of these trucks, but there are trucks that are on the egyptian side of rafah getting ready to cross and being inspected and there are trucks that are already inside gaza, close to the border. So there has been no crossover, and definitely no crossover of fuel. And on this occasion, unrwa is really stepping up its call to enable fuel to go into gaza, because without fuel, it will not be possible for us, the Largest Humanitarian Agency in the gaza strip, to work after a couple of days from today. Tamara, just explain to people watching this at home what the fuel is used for. Because its notjust put into cars and lorries, is it . Its used in hospitals, its used in Desalination Plants and its used by you as well, as you were explaining. Just give a clear explanation of why fuel is so important to gaza. Fuel is extremely important for the trucks that carry the food, the water, the medicines, the blankets and everything around gaza. So, for the trucks. Fuel is also very important for generators that generate electricity. It is even more important to generate electricity in hospitals for all the Life Support Equipment and machines to b
