England Captainjos Buttler has been ruled out of the three Match T20 Series against australia and he is a doubt for the five one day internationals. Good afternoon. The deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner says its completely unacceptable that people are still living in homes covered with dangerous cladding seven years after the Grenfell Tower fire. Yesterdays final report into the disaster said all 72 deaths were avoidable. The government also want police and prosecutors to take action as quickly as possible. Criminal charges could include corporate manslaughter. Jessica lane reports. Survivors and relatives of those who died say they have now had apologies and some answers but theirfight for justice Goes On. Antonio and miguel managed to escape the fire. Miguel and his wife knocked on doors of five other flats on the 13th floor, warning friends and neighbours to get out. It is my duty to do that, anyway. If i knew there was a fire in the building, i mean, the small thing i could do wasjust to give advice to my neighbours. Now the inquiry has finished and the second chapter is starting so it is important now that the government takes on board the recommendation. But bereaved families and survivors may have to wait until at least the end of 2026 for a decision on potential criminal charges over the fire. Here are some of the reports key findings. In 2001, before the disaster, the alarm was raised about cladding related fires. But, despite a committee of mps raising concerns, flammable Cladding Wasnt banned. The report also found that tests conducted in 2001 revealed that the cladding of concern burned violently though the government did not tighten any rules. In 2010, the Coalition Government was intent on cutting regulations. The inquiry found even matters affecting the safety of life were ignored, delayed or disregarded. The inquiry also found there had been systematic dishonesty from manufacturers, with one company deliberately concealing the true extent of the danger of its product. The report also found firefighters from the London Fire brigade. Who went into grenfell, were not properly prepared. Prime minister Keir Starmer visited grenfell and apologised yesterday for the systematic failings that led to the deaths, all of which, the report found, were avoidable. His government says it wont be easy to make peoples homes safer, even though £5 billion is available to carry out the work needed. Theres no excuse to not do this work now. There is still some buildings that we believe havent been identified also. Weve identified 11,630 and only 50 of them are currently in remediation. But it is completely unacceptable that the remediation has taken as long as it has. Around the country, people are fighting to get safety improvements made to their homes. Rachel loftus lives in leeds city centre. Building checks after the Grenfell Fire found urgent changes needed to be made here. Alongside Timber Cladding on the outside of the building, weve also been told this Polycarbonate Sheeting should never have been used on a residential building because its likely to melt if the temperature got very high. Then the other problem is that this is the insulation is used behind the outer wall of our building and that is basicallyjust polystyrene, so that also would melt and that would be quite toxic in the event of a fire. New Fire Alarms have been fitted and residents took the owners of the building to Court But Work is not expected to begin until november of next year. Developers say that it is reasonable given the Nature And Complexity of the works in question. Seven years on, Grenfell Tower remains a place of remembrance and a warning that urgent changes are needed to dangerous homes. The government says speeding up the process of identifying those and getting work done is now its priority. Jessica lane, Bbc News. Bhim kohli was attacked in The Park on sunday night. He had been out walking his dog. He was taken to the Queens Medical Centre In Nottingham but despite best efforts he died on monday. A postmortem was carried out and confirmed he died as a result of a neck injury. Nearly four days on from this incident and the community in there is very much in shock at what has happened. Flowers and messages of support have been left at the entrance to The Park. Yesterday the family released a statement through Leicestershire Police saying our hearts have been completely broken. Water company executives could be sent to prison and banned from getting their bonuses under new Government Legislation to cut Sewage Spills. A bill that applies to england and wales would give regulators more power to impose penalties. But activists say the system is broken, and that current regulations arent enforced. Heres our environment correspondentjonah fisher. Profits and pollution. For years, our Water Companies have paid out dividends to shareholders and bonuses to executives while at the same time, discharging sewage into our rivers, lakes and seas. But could that be about to change . At a Rowing Club on the banks of the thames, Environment Minister Steve Reed outlined new legislation to end what he called the disgraceful behaviour of the Water Companies and their bosses. This new bill is a significant step forwards in fixing our broken water system. It is an immediate Down Payment on the wider reform that is needed after years of failure and environmental damage. It holds polluting Water Companies to account after years where there has been no accountability. The new bill will give the regulator greater powers to take action against the Water Companies when they pollute. Executives who block investigations could be sent to jail. Bonuses will be conditional on the company meeting environmental and financial standards. Watching on, the Chief Executive of severn trent water, liv garfield. Last year, she took home more than £3 million. Miss garfield, are you worried you wont be getting £3. 2 million next year . Introducing these new laws and tougher penalties certainly looks like a step towards cleaning up our waterways. But there is plenty of evidence that the Water Companies have been breaking the rules around Sewage Spills for years. Many campaigners say the real problem is that the regulators have been letting them get away with it. We actually have perfectly decent laws, a perfectly, you know, acceptable legal framework. The problem is, it has never been enforced and what this bill does is it comes up with some nice, emotive phrases like Prison Sentences and banning bonuses and so on. But it does not address the fundamental problem. We have regulations already and they are not being enforced and the only way they are going to be enforced is allowing regulators to be properly funded and empowered to do the job they are supposed to be doing. The Water Companies say they know the current System Isnt working. They say the best way to stop the Sewage Spills is for more than £100 billion to be spent on new infrastructure, paid for by a sharp rise in customer bills. The government is hoping these tougher rules and laws will encourage investors to Come In and provide some of the huge amount of money that is needed. It is also possible it will have the opposite effect. Those investors will look at the Uk Water industry can see its massive debt, somewhere in the region of £60 billion, decide they are better off taking their money elsewhere where perhaps they can make easier returns. Elsewhere where perhaps they can make easier returns. Thank you very much.
