Has been happening here. The israeli Prime Minister, benjamin netanyahu, has instructed the Israeli Military to continue fighting with full force against hezbollah In Lebanon, despite growing calls for an immediate ceasefire. This was a statement released by his office just a few hours ago. Mr Netanyahus Office said that he had not even given a response to a proposal by the us and france for a 21 Day Ceasefire. The key thing is they will continue with full force. The World Leaders were hoping to have a period of negotiation, ofjust have a period of negotiation, of just trying to have a period of negotiation, ofjust trying to de escalate but at the moment it is difficult to see whether that will be successful. The israeli Foreign Minister has said that therell be no ceasefire until they achieve victory over hezbollah. Some of Netanyahus Coalition partners in his government have also been speaking out against it. The Israeli Military is targeting infrastructure on The Border there, infrastructure they say is being used to carry weapons. Lebanon say that in one particular strike 20 people, almost all of them are syrian refugees In Lebanon, they were killed in an overnight israeli strike. Hezbollah has also continued to fire its weapons into israel. No casualties and damage reported there. We can bring you up to date with what is happening. Lets speak to our correspondent daniel de simone injerusalemi. All the talk from the Un General Assembly in New York was about this hope of a ceasefire that World Leaders have put together, so how was that received in israel and what have the interested parties said in the last couple of hours . Parties said in the last couple of hours . ~. ~. ,. , of hours . When the talk was out there this morning, of hours . When the talk was out there this morning, the of hours . When the talk was out there this morning, the prime i there this morning, the prime Minister Netanyahu there this morning, the prime Minister Netanyahu was there this morning, the prime Minister Netanyahu was on i there this morning, the prime| Minister Netanyahu was on the plane to New York, so he wasnt available to respond but his office issued a statement later in the morning, making it clear that he had not actually responded to this proposal yet, and he was instructing the military to carry on Fighting Hezbollah with full force. It is a Coalition Government in israel and there are some far right members of the coalition who are completely opposed to any Ceasefire Deal with hamas relating To Gaza and also completely opposed to any Ceasefire Deal relating to hezbollah. The Security Minister and the Finance Minister and the Finance Minister have both said this morning they are completely against it. Calling into question whether they remain a part of the coalition if there was any sort of Ceasefire Deal, saying they need to keep targeting hezbollah while they feel hezbollah are on the back foot. , , foot. The timing of this is notable foot. The timing of this is notable. But foot. The timing of this is notable. But so foot. The timing of this is notable. But so many foot. The timing of this is notable. But so many months the concerns were that this type of escalation would come from a miscalculation from one side or another, an attack that would end up killing a large number of people, but it was provoked by the excavations of the pagers and the Walkie Talkies In Lebanon, which israel has not admitted to, although clearly orchestrated by them, and that seems to have been the trigger. And that seems to have been the triu cer. ,. And that seems to have been the tri. Ier ,. ,. , and that seems to have been the triu cer. ,. ,. , trigger. Israel wanted to retain 60,000 trigger. Israel wanted to retain 60,000 people. Trigger. Israel wanted to j retain 60,000 people in trigger. Israel wanted to retain 60,000 people in the north of Israel Home who had been displaced by Hezbollah Rocket Fire and it was a few hours after that was fixed that we saw the Pager Explosions and then the Walkie Talkie explosions and then Air Strikes in beirut, one today, and that is the fourth in a little over a week, actually, less than a week. Also very extensive Air Strikes In Lebanon Killing Hundreds of people. This has come one thing after another and we have also seen a clear change in rhetoric. The military leadership, political leadership, talking about the only military action appears to be able to deliver the goal they have set for themselves, and they seem to be ruling out any diplomatic solution, at least from what they are saying publicly, and there has been talk including yesterday from the head of the military about the head of the military about the possible Ground Incursion into lebanon. Into lebanon. Daniel, Thanks Forjoining into lebanon. Daniel, Thanks Forjoining us. Into lebanon. Daniel, Thanks Forjoining us. We into lebanon. Daniel, Thanks Forjoining us. We can into lebanon. Daniel, Thanks Forjoining us. We can speak| into lebanon. Daniel, thanks. Forjoining us. We can speak to our middle East Correspondent here in beirut, hugo. This our middle East Correspondent here in beirut, hugo. Here in beirut, hugo. This is the hezbollah here in beirut, hugo. This is the Hezbollah Stronghold. Here in beirut, hugo. This is the Hezbollah Stronghold in| the Hezbollah Stronghold in beirut and there was another targeted assassination by the Israeli Military, and reports say that the target of this operation was the commander responsible for the drone operations, hezbollah s drone operations, hezbollah s drone operations, the Health Authorities In Lebanon say at least four people were killed in this attack. So another attack targeting beirut and hezbollah s stronghold here in the capital, and there have been more Air Strikes from israel targeting the south and also the eastern areas, which are Hezbollah Strongholds, so indications that the israelis are not really interested or preparing for any kind of De Escalation in this conflict. We will see the scene of that strike in a moment. I havejust been down to see what is happening. It is very complex, what is happening. You are based In Lebanon and you are covering the story all the time but the negotiations that are going on, we heard from the lebanese Prime Minister with his hopes for a ceasefire, but it is complex. It his hopes for a ceasefire, but it is complex. It is complex. It really is. What peeple it is complex. It really is. What people say it is complex. It really is. What people say hey, it is complex. It really is. What people say hey, especially people outside the Hezbollah Base of support, they fear hezbollah is dragging lebanon into a conflict that is not in the interests of the country. Hezbollah is supported by iran, and they say they are supporting palestinians in gaza with these attacks, but these attacks are going to continue until there is a ceasefire in gaza, and we know all negotiations for a ceasefire in gaza have failed to reach a deal so it is very difficult to see how hezbollah can detach itself from the situation in gaza. There was a hope a deal there could help de escalate tensions here on The Border, and on the israeli side, they say the situation is unacceptable and unsustainable and no country would accept the situation where 60,000 residents have had to flee their homes because of the rockets being fired from the other side of The Border. There is the real concern In Lebanon that this could be the beginning of a wider Israeli Offensive in that the israelis are planning a Ground Incursion into Southern Lebanon to create a so called Buffer Zone to destroy the infrastructure that has been used by hezbollah and to push hezbollah away from The Border. Hugo, thanks for joining us. I havejust been to the other side of the city. The southern the other side of the city. The Southern Suburbs the other side of the city. The Southern Suburbs that we were just talking about, where the idf say they have carried out a Precision Strike. Less than an hour since the Precision Strike. Less than an hoursince the air Precision Strike. Less than an hour since the Air Strike was reported in the Southern Suburbs of beirut and i want to show you, this is an apartment on the first, second floor, and you can see the damage that has been caused. The idf described it as a Precision Strike and when they carry out these operations in the Southern Suburbs, they are normally targeting senior leadership of hezbollah, some of the senior commanders in this area just a few days ago, they killed the head of its Missile And Rocket programme. They have been carrying out strikes and you can also see the aftermath of a moment like this, with members of hezbollah in The Street but also you can see the army are here and you can see ambulances arriving. I want to show you in this direction, you can see the chaos in The Streets. As people try to work out what has happened and people try to work out who has been targeted, and it really impacts the civilians here, their safety and security. When they see something like this happening very close to them. That is what is happening just a few kilometres away from me, the scene in the Southern Suburbs of beirut, and Suggestions Israel were targeting the head of hezbollah s air unit. As we said, these discussions of a ceasefire that have come from the un in New York, and our correspondent has been there for us. Lets speak to sumi somaskanda, whos at the Un Headquarters in New York. There was a suggestion a Ceasefire Deal that might be achieved but the response during today has been more muted. What are people saying now . ,. ,. , muted. What are people saying now . ,. ,. , now . Very little so far. We are seeinu now . Very little so far. We are seeing this now . Very little so far. We are seeing this dichotomy now . Very little so far. We arej seeing this dichotomy between what we are hearing and what is going on, the notes of diplomacy we are seeing, the wheels of Diplomacy Turning quickly surrounding the un Security Council and the statement put out by the us, uk, eu, with 12 allies in supporting the call for a 21 Day Ceasefire and a pause in the fighting. Since, israel has said they will continue striking those targets In Lebanon and we have not heard from the us today. There are high level meetings taking place in the un Security Council is holding a high level informal meeting with the League Of Arab States and we will be watching to see if anything comes out of that. They will be discussing the role of Aid Organisations in gaza and the two State Solution and we will also be watching because palestine is going to because palestine is going to be delivering their address to the delegates at the un, to see what response we have. The Big Question is going to be, the israeli prime Minister Netanyahu is arriving although we do not know if he has touched down yet. He is expected to speak tomorrow morning. Antony blinken is here, he has been travelling throughout the region of the middle east, trying to reach a Ceasefire Agreement for the war in gaza and it is likely we will see continuous diplomatic efforts through the course of the day but so far, we have not seen any movement so far. Thanks forjoining us. I want to talk about the impact this is having on civilians In Lebanon, in the south in particular where the Air Strikes are going on. On that, lets speak now to ettie higgins, unicef s Deputy Representative In Lebanon. Thanks forjoining us. We have spoken before about the difficult situation for children In Lebanon, so what is happening to them at the moment with so many families having to flee their homes . This with so many families having to flee their homes . Flee their homes . As the reporter flee their homes . As the reporter has flee their homes . As the reporter has highlighted | flee their homes . As the I Reporter has highlighted and flee their homes . As the reporter has highlighted and as you have witnessed yourself in recent hours, the civilians really are in a very difficult situation right across lebanon. We have faced a massive increase in Air Strikes and fighting this week. We have witnessed, at unicef we are dealing first hand with thousands and thousands of children who are arriving to seek safety anywhere they can across the country so they arriving into Beirut And Mountain villages, and settlements, anywhere they can get some protection and safety. That is where their families are taking them. Unicef and the otherfront are taking them. Unicef and the other Front Line workers here are finding the children and theirfamilies have been left with nothing apart from the clothing on their backs and they are in dire need. We have been on the ground in the last four days since the influx started delivering Drinking Water and Winter Clothing kits, blankets, mattresses, food, it is all desperately needed. Unfortunately, many children were not able to flee on time and we saw on monday a huge Death Toll of children, 36 children in one day killed. This week alone over 50 children have been killed and we are expecting the number to rise. Many families are still under the rubble. Lebanons infrastructure under the rubble. Lebanons infrastructure was under the rubble. Lebanons infrastructure was already. Infrastructure was already suffering from a Whole succession of crises that have happened here over the last few years and they were not at full strength anyway so is there Enoughin Strength anyway so is there enough in terms of Hospital Capacity . And the things like Food And Water and medical treatment. Can they cope . Right across basic treatment. Can they cope . Right across basic social treatment. Can they
