First, we thought it was the Sound Barrier being broken Sonic Boom by israeli jets was something that weve gotten use to but it was so strong and continued and moments later, we saw thick smoke rising from behind that school that we are reporting from people screaming, women and children were crying and women and men were crying, afraid of this because there was so scared. In that area that we were singing everyone can see that it is a safe area and we, the chaos, emergency teams rushing to the Explosion Site and No One knew what was happening but what we understood was the biggest Air Strikes that the suburbs and also witnessed in beirut in the past few days. What is the strategy to reject, as i said earlier the idea of a Cease Fire in the war with hezbollah and ive been talking with our international correspondent, jeremy bowen. I think it was from the israeli point of view, all put together and he finished his speech and then this happened and then they released the photo of him giving the orders and we think back only a few hours, there were people wondering whether at the un, he would make some gesture put forward by his closest allies of a 21 Day Truce to allow some diplomacy to work in the war in lebanon in Northern Israel and i think this is a very emphatic message from the israelis that that is not on their agenda. I mean, this is the kind of situation which from day one, actually in the last year after the hamas attacks, the americans are Saying to the israelis, please do not do this because it carries with it risks of a much wider war in the middle east and initially, just the days after those 7th of october, attacks last year, the americans are able to put enough pressure on israel for them not to do it. And the americans are still Saying that they do not want this to happen but the israelis have gone ahead and done what they are doing because they feel that is the appropriate moment, clearly, to do it and they feel theyre doing this to get the civilians back to their homes in Northern Israel and of course, there has to be said that if theres any kind of protracted war, even a short intense war in lebanon, that is not good for anybody who wants to live on either side of the border in lebanon itself, will of roger thousand people have been displaced well over. And those hopes of a truce in the window for diplomacy, they seem to be pretty much gone. Speaking to me from jerusalem. And also spoke to her middle East Correspondent in beirut who was trying to get to the scene of those Air Strikes in the Southern Suburbs. This is the Southern Suburbs. This is the scene the Southern Suburbs. This is the scene in the Southern Suburbs. This is the scene in southern the Southern Suburbs. This isj the scene in southern beirut, Hezbollah Stronghold in beirut and this is not farfrom Hezbollah Stronghold in beirut and this is not far from the side of the attacking can see lots of people here, large crowds apparently trying to leave this district and we have seen a lot of people, families carrying sacks, bags and a lot of people stopping cars here as well and this is the Hezbollah Base Year and the lebanese capital and targeted several times in recent days and seeing ambulances here trying to reach this sight of these attacks. This is a huge attack and shortly before half past six in the evening and very chaotic and very tense situation here. In beirut, you can get more on the israeli perspective and more with levy, a columnist at Israels Newspaper and joining us now from Tel Aviv and thanks for being with us. Is it in your mind that Benjamin Netanyahu possible speech at the un which Camejust A Netanyahu possible speech at the un which came just a few minutes before these Air Strikes, it is no coincidence that the two things were timed to coincide with a clear message that israel does not want to Cease Fire in the fight as Benjamin Netanyahu against hezbollah, as he said, the fight against hezbollah does Go On . . ,. , on . In time, it might bejust a coincidence because there is so much intelligence needed to do it in a certain, and so many factors, the speech and so many factors, the speech and the bombarding is totally connected and it couldve happened a few hours before in a few hours or a few days later. ,. ,. , later. It looks like things will be turning dry as we head into the weekend. Thanks to a ridge of high pressure, It Will help a lot of the floodwater to ease down, but It Will be quite short lived because as we move into sunday, weve got the next area of low pressure pushing in from the southwest. Now this is this Mornings Rain clearing away on this active Weather Front into the near continent. But thats open the floodgates. Yes, some brighter sunny weather, but also a cold arctic northerly air flow. So it really will be quite chilly as we head through this evening. And certainly overnight temperatures will drop like a stone under clear skies. A few showers peppering coastal areas, still quite breezy down North Sea Coast and a bit of cloud pushing into northwest scotland. So temperatures recovering here, but It Will be chilly elsewhere. Under clear skies. Northern england central Eastern Scotland could see A Touch Of Frost to greet you on saturday morning, but thanks to this area of high pressure, it should be largely settled on saturday for england and wales. Very much needed drier, brighter weather here so It Will be a chilly start. Lots of sunshine in the south, some cloud across scotland which will tend to filter a little bit further southwards through the afternoon, but it should stay mostly dry in the midlands. Southwards should see The Best Of the Sunshine Temperatures responding a little bit higher. I think generally 13 to 15 degrees for england and wales. Low teens. Further north, its going to be another chilly night Saturday Night under clear skies. Sunday starts fine, but then heres this new area of low pressure, which will start to bring wet and windy weather to southern and western areas. So it starts chilly, bright again, northern and eastern areas. The sunshine will fade as the cloud builds ahead of this area of low pressure, and it turns wet and windy for Northern Ireland, western england, wales and into the midlands. Temperatures again into the mid teens in the south. Something a Bit Cooler further north. Now this area of low pressure will move across areas which really dont need any more rainfall during the course of Sunday Night into monday, but It Will be a weakening feature. Still a blustery day to come on monday, gales close to the coast and outbreaks of Heavy Rain in places like i mentioned, we really dont need it further north. A few showers i think for scotland. Some sunny spells, probably The Best Of it across Western Scotland and temperatures range from 13 to 16 degrees. A bit closer to where we should be for the time of year. For the upcoming week, it looks like the middle part of the week will be fine and settled again before it turns more unsettled towards The End of the week. Youre watching the context on bbc news. Moments ago the Israel Defense forces carried out a strike on the central border of hezbollah terror organisation. Toutiiiii terror organisation.
