Conservation officer Simon Gravel said the bear was killed Thursday evening (Oct. 18) when it entered an occupied building in the Function Junction neighbourhood. Gravel said the bear's behaviour had escalated over the past week, but it was the events on Thursday that prompted the decision to kill the bear. "Last night between 6 and 10 p.m. we had four reports of this bear breaking into cars and charging at people," Gravel said on Friday (Oct. 19). "This is a high level of conflict representing a risk for the public.
