Indianapolis police say a "resisting shoplifter" pointed a gun at a security guard inside a Beech Grove Walmart on Saturday, causing another shopper to fire shots at him in a chaotic scene. The suspect was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A loss prevention officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Samone Burris said officers heard reports of a shoplifter resisting security at the Walmart off South Emerson Avenue around 4 p.m. En route to the Walmart, officers learned that shots were fired inside. Burris said that another shopper fired after the suspected shoplifter pulled his own gun, but did not hit him.
