Belmondâs Luick Memorial Swimming Pool will open a week later than usual this year. Opening day is planned for Friday, June 4. ââCity Manager Darrel Steven Carlyle told the city council Monday night, âBecause of new rules during Covid-19, all our lifeguards have to be recertified. We are having to bring someone here in early June to take care of that this year.â ââThe council approved the hiring of 13 returning lifeguards, seven new lifeguards, and five front desk workers. Pay will range from $7.00 to $8.70 per hour depending upon years of experience, training, and leadership responsibilities. ââWhen the pool does open, the water should be nice and warm. A different heater is currently being installed. âThis heater is a lot bigger than the old one,â said Public Works Director Justin Fournier. âIt will require a new, larger gas line and meter. We will be working much of this week on getting the pool ready to open.â
