9th April 2021 After-dinner mint brand Bendicks is adding new Mint Fondants to its line-up this month combining soft peppermint fondant with 50% dark chocolate. The launch aims to tap into the growing trend for indulgent options. Dark chocolate is one of the biggest growing trends in confectionery, with value sales up 23% in the last year. The new Mint Fondants tap into this and are thus expected to drive further growth to the boxed chocolate category, especially following a good year for Bendicks, which experienced 3% growth ahead of the declining category (-2%) in 2020. Rebecca Robert, marketing director at Storck UK, commented: “The introduction of our new Mint Fondant pack is an exciting launch for the brand. Having monitored consumer behaviour, we see an increased demand for dark chocolate, dairy-free and vegan options, as well as indulgent flavours and softer textures.
