Bishop David Monroe has been discharged from RIH seven weeks after he was brutally attacked by an emotionally disturbed assailant. The bishop of the Kamloops Diocese will continue his recovery in the community, a statement from his family said Thursday. "Thank God for this early Christmas gift," they wrote. Monroe was attacked at the door to the Sacred Heart rectory Oct. 22 by John Bandura. Bandura is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and mischief for the assault. The bishop's family thanked those involved with his care during his recovery in hospital and the community for its prayers and support.
