Board approves Mother Earth to open as pot compassion center

PAWTUCKET – The Pawtucket Board of Appeals this month approved an application from Mother Earth Wellness for relief to open as a marijuana compassion center at 125 Esten Ave.
The board, at its Dec. 7 meeting, approved a dimensional variance and special use permit for the facility, which was previously approved as a cultivation center in this industrial open zone.
Chairman Douglas McKinnon noted that the company’s operating hours were clipped back to 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. He said the board felt hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, as well as 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, would be excessive and impact a dense neighborhood with issues such as traffic and parking. The facility is located near the new condos at the Hope Artiste Village, right off I-95.
