Bobcat Goldthwait No way when folks saw Bobcat Goldthwait howling through his role as part of the Police Academy movies in the ’80s that they could have foreseen the long, impressive career ahead of him. But even back then, anyone who saw him do standup knew he was a sharp comedic mind with a wealth of incisive material that took on politics and social issues. In the years since he first appeared on Letterman as a 20-year-old new comedian, he’s gone on to act in roles both absurd and serious, and to direct a series of well-received features and documentaries including Call Me Lucky and World’s Greatest Dad. He’s also directed a series of specials for his fellow standups like Patton Oswalt, Marc Maron and Iliza Shlesinger, so he’s never been too far from a comedy stage. A chance to see him in Spokane is a real treat.
