By: Kristen Weaver TULSA, Okla. - Boxing classes for people with Parkinson's disease had to take a break during the past year due COVID-19, and now they're back in session with a virtual option. Rock Steady had about 40 boxers enrolled before the pandemic. Inside the Impact Fitness studio, Parkinson's patients are punching bags and pushing themselves. Owner Kristen Phelps keeps everyone in line. "High intensity exercise is the one thing that can really slow the progression and alleviate symptoms," said Phelps. Rock Steady boxing is a program that uses movement to fight the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. For people who have been boxing for years, the change has been dramatic.
