SOUTH BEND â The American Theatre Guild will bring shows back to the Morris Performing Arts Center in November, 20 months after the roaring success of its last show, âThe Lion King,â halted amid the pandemic. Itâs coming back from a zero-income year when the nonprofit touring company rebooked almost every show on its tour four to five times, thinking it had found a safe window, Executive Director Amy Hamm said. But, after seeing COVID-19 vaccinations rise and hospitalizations decline, she said, âWe feel confident that weâre there now.â Hamm said the Guild, which presents Broadway in South Bend, also comes with renewed excitement from Tuesdayâs news that the Morris has launched a $30 million campaign to upgrade the theaterâs seats, build a parking garage and create an endowment to foster diversity and equity in the arts as the Morris turns 100 next year.
