I am an intrepid intrapreneur and social change enthusiast who has 25+ years of experience in the development sector. Currently I am President & CEO  at Breakthrough, a global human rights organization working in U.S. and India using multi-media, popular culture, leadership development and community mobilization strategies to promote values of dignity, equality and justice. I lead Resource Mobilisation to establish a strong resource base and sustainability, am the chief strategist and work at transforming the organisation into a founder-led organisation to a professionally managed one.  
I started my career working on an Unicef-funded project to create communication materials for the Year of the Girl-child with active participation from rural women in the villages of West Bengal hosted by Child In Need Institute (CINI), a premier Mother and Child Health organization in India. In 1992 I helped set up a eevika Development Society, a breakaway group from CINI, focussed on economic empowerment for women in non-traditional livelihoods. Between 1992 and 2000, I worked with Dastkar in Delhi, working with traditional craftspeople, identifying their needs and understanding markets, issues in production and the struggle of the craftspeople. In 1996 I got involved with setting up Sanhita, a Gender Resource Centre, in Calcutta, along with a friend, where I worked on creating resource materials on Human Rights and Women s Rights and modules for Gender training for women workers of NGOs and on envisioning a space where discourses on gender rights can happen in a participative and interactive mode, while recognizing that different approaches exist in addressing development for women in the country.
